About Melanie

Melanie Ehrlich is an on-camera and voice actress, and a pretty interesting person in general. Her recent on-camera credits include Netflix series The OA, Ryan Murphy's Emmy-nominated Feud: Bette and Joan on FX, Adult Swim's Decker, and a Project Runway-inspired national commercial for Dish Network featuring Tim Gunn. She will be making her big screen debut alongside Matt Damon in Alexander Payne’s Downsizing, in theaters December 22nd, 2017. Melanie plays Lizabeth on the new series My Dead Ex from Dreamworks' Awesomeness TV, out in 2018, when Melanie will also be appearing in the film The Miseducation of Cameron Post alongside Chloë Grace Moretz.

Behind the mic, Melanie has voiced hundreds of games, commercials, animated works, and more, with over 550 studio hours spanning more than 350 recording sessions during her eighteen months in South Korea alone. In addition to a singing bison (yes, really), a sprightly kangaroo and a kindly cat hostess in Disney Junior's P. King Duckling, Melanie voices no-nonsense Razel, spunky Ardea, blasé Bea, adorable Lupa, and other characters in Adult Swim Games' Battle Chef Brigade, out late 2017, as well as Vella Wilde, the lead female protagonist in the highly-anticipated indie RPG YIIK, which has been featured on Kotaku, PCGamer, Engadget, IGN, and Sony’s official Playstation blog. Melanie’s voice can also be heard in anime series including Ladies versus Butlers! and Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc V, as well as in commercials and narration for Samsung, Apple, Ebay, LG, Johnson & Johnson, and Japan Airlines.

An NYU graduate, Melanie learned to speak Korean and play samulnori (traditional Korean percussion) in college--interests that inspired her to spend a year and a half in South Korea, studying the Korean language abroad and working full-time as a voice actor. She often uses both abilities in her work, in film (speaking Korean in Simbi_Xombies, Product Of The Year and Drawing Lines), live performance (as the featured samulnori player at the 2014 Buddha's Birthday performance in Union Square Park), and otherwise (including an upcoming pilot project in the works).

In addition to her performance work, Melanie is the owner/CEO of Listen To Melanie (LTM) Productions, which provides casting, directing, production and consulting services for creative productions. Under the LTM moniker, she fully cast and directed the voice acting for the game Norse Noir, notable for including veteran voice actors from games like League of Legends, World Of Warcraft, Grand Theft Auto V, Super Smash Bros., and Bioshock Infinite alongside up-and-coming voiceover talent. Melanie was the main ADR director for Media Blasters’ first in-house anime dub of Holy Knight, which received over 80,000 views in its first three weeks online.

Melanie is a regular speaker at conferences and events, including the New York Media Festival, PAX East and IndieCade East, and teaches voice acting classes to aspiring voiceover talent, for which she was one of the top four nominees for Best NYC Voiceover Coach in the 2016 Backstage Reader’s Choice Awards (and top five in 2014).

In her free time, Melanie loves DDR (Dance Dance Revolution--you'll make her extremely happy by challenging her to a round), samulnori (traditional Korean percussion), and playing with her adorable, fuzzy pet bunny, Pia, with whom she lives happily in Los Angeles.
